2.300 persone a Dublino, cercheranno di rompere il Guinness World Record per la più lunga Riverdance line di ballerini
A mezzogiorno di domenica 21 luglio, nell’ambito del Gathering Ireland’s year, una lunga celebrazione di tutto ciò che è Irlandese, Dublino tenterà di rompere il Guinness World Record per la più lunga Riverdance line di ballerini. Il record è attualmente di 652 ballerini ed è stato fissato a Nashville, Tennessee, Stati Uniti d’America.
La Riverdance è una vivace e innovativa danza irlandese. Oltre 23 milioni di persone in tutto il mondo l’hanno vista dal vivo in più di 350 città, popolare ora come quando salì alla ribalta mondiale nel 1994, come intervallo di 7 minuti durante l’Eurovision Song Contest.
Oltre 2.300 persone provenienti da 44 paesi si riuniranno lungo le rive del fiume Liffey per battere il record mondiale per la più lunga Riverdance line; parteciperà anche l’acclamata ballerina Jean Butler. Newyorkese di origini irlandesi, Jean ha preso parte 19 anni fa alla prima performance di Riverdance nel 1994.
Si unirà a Jean, nel tentativo di battere il record, la sorella Cara Butler.
Parteciperanno alla Riverdance line non solo i ballerini professionisti: tutti i partecipanti (provenienti dagli Stati Uniti, dall’Australia, dalla Cina, dall’Arabia Saudita e dalla Gran Bretagna) dovranno eseguire alcuni passi fondamentali imparati tramite tutorial online.
La linea si estenderà oltre 1 km lungo il fiume Liffey, nel centro di Dublino, toccando edifici emblematici come il Dublin’s Convention Centre, la Custom House ed il Samuel Beckett Bridge.
Il tentativo fa parte di ‘Riverdance – The Gathering‘ che organizzerà oltre 4000 eventi, grandi e piccoli, in tutta l’Irlanda all’interno del Gathering Ireland 2013. Si tratta di una celebrazione di tutto ciò che è irlandese: dalla gente, alla cultura ed alla storia. Il popolo d’Irlanda spalanca le braccia e invita chiunque senta una connessione con il paese a visitarlo nel 2013.

Riverdance Director John McColgan said “Through music and dance, Riverdance tells the story of the emigrant’s departure from Ireland, striking-out into a new world overseas all the while keeping their Irish heritage and traditions alive. This is a beautifully poetic fit with the central themes of the Gathering and we are really looking forward to bringing it back to Dublin. I think there will be a real “where were you?” moment- when people see and hear those sights and sounds that have become so much a part of how Ireland is now known overseas”
